2-day Delhi tour- eat, pray, love, and generally have fun

For those of you who are coming to  India’s capital for the first time, here is a ready reckoner for a 2-day Delhi tour. Thank me for helping you out with this itinerary.

Qutub Minar is one of the most visited monuments in the world

You will have to divide your Delhi tour into two days. The city is too big to be traveled in a single day. For simplicity, I am giving you two packages, choose the one according to your convenience.

Day 1 – South Delhi

This option is meant for all those travelers who are interested in knowing the history of Delhi. This tour involves a lot of walking but is also about fascinating stories about the past of Delhi. This is how our Day 1 starts.

Transportation- If you are a group of 2 to 3 people, then I can transport you in this trip in my Toyota. If your group is 4 then a bigger cab is best for you, like a Toyota Innova.

Time of Start of Tour- 8 am

Place of Assembly- Qutab Minar Ticket Counter

1.Qutub Minar

Duration-1 hour

We begin our trip with a visit to the world-famous Qutab Minar. Take photos in the morning light, and generally relax here because the crowds are thin. This part of the trip will last for 1-hour at least.

Main Attraction- Take great photographs and know about this monument.

The entrance ticket of this monument costs upwards of INR 300 for foreign nationals and INR 30 for Indians.


2. Mehrauli Archaeological Park

If you are lucky, you may spot some wild life among the ruins of the Mehrauli Archaeological Park

Duration- 2-3 hours

The next destination in this 2-Day Delhi tour is the lesser known Mehrauli Archaeological Park. Until a few years ago, this Park was unknown to foreign travelers but thanks to the interest shown by the Government Authorities, this place is now a preferred destination for many.

Main Attraction- Lose yourself in the 1,000-year old monuments of this park. Take photos and listen to some great stories about this place.


3. Coffee break at the nearby Cafe Coffee Day.

Duration- 30 minutes

  1. Shopping at Indian Handicraft’s Museum

Duration- 1 hour

If you are interested in picking up authentic Indian handicrafts and artworks, then you can spend some time here.

Have a quick bite with some refreshing coffee at this fashionable cafe. Relax and catch up with your friends, talk, and laugh.


4. Humayun Tomb

Duration-2 hours

The next destination would have to be the Humayun’s Tomb. Spend 2 hours here clicking photographs and listening to stories about the Great Moghuls


5. Coffee at Khan Market

Khan Market is one of the best markets for foreign travelers coming to Delhi. This chic place is home to coffee and curio shops.

Day -2

This part of the 2-Day Delhi tour will take you to Old Delhi, and Red Fort.

India was known for its spices long time back. Visit the Spice Market and take home some memories

Place of Assembly- Jain Temple, Chandni Chowk

Time of Assembly- 9 a

1.Old Delhi Walk

Duration- 3 hours

This part of your Delhi tour will take you to Jama Masjid, Sisganj Gurudwara, Spice Market, Jain Temple, Mirza Ghalib Haveli and the various bye-lanes of Chandni Chowk. If you are a foodie, then this walk is just for you. Click pictures, watch how Delhiites live and work, and pray and also get to know about the fantastic history of this part of the City.You do not have to pay for entry to any of these monuments but for Jama Masjid, foreign travelers are charged INR 300 for cameras or mobile phones.

After we are finished with this walk, then we can sit in a glorious hotel in Old Delhi for refreshments.

2. Red Fort Delhi Walk

Duration- 2-3 hours

Immerse yourself in the stories and tales of the Mughals and the British rulers of India. Look in awe at the marvelous palaces of the Mughals. Visit the adjoining Salimgarh Fort which also served as a jail more than 400 years back. If you like, you may even like to shop in the small quaint market of the Red Fort. Entry ticket to Red Fort costs INR 300 plus.

Tour Ends.

If you arrived at the venue by Delhi Metro, then you can return via the same. Else, you can take a cab.

Price of the 2-Day Delhi tour- INR 4,000 per person.
